Cooking Fires
10/21/2020 (Permalink)
189,300
Each year from 2016 to 2018, this is the average number of residential cooking fires that fire departments across the United States responded to. These fires resulted in 170 Deaths, 3,300 Injuries, and $443 Million in Property Loss, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.
It is well known that cooking is necessary, but it is also relaxing, fun, and a great way to connect with friends and family. Please keep in mind though, that cooking is the leading cause of residential fires and home fire injuries. With life being so busy and people being so accustomed to multitasking, a minute away from the stove can easily lead to five, and a small flame can lead to a big fire.
