Why isn't this Water Damage Covered by my Insurance?
With the recent large amounts rainfall and flooding in the area, many homeowners and business owners alike have been dealing with unwanted water.
Many are finding out, some for the first time ever, that their insurance does not cover "Seepage". That is, water coming inside through porous material, small cracks, or holes in the foundation. Most insurance policies cover broken pipes, busted water heaters, drain back up and even sump pump failure if the proper endorsements have been added to the policies. But with the record amount of rain and flooding in the area, many are experiencing "Seepage" which is Not Covered under any policy. This falls under the category of "Maintenance", of which the homeowner or business owner is responsible.
